Die Studie basierte auf 36 Millionen Patientenkontakten.

Good morning guest of honour Mayor Winterwerk, good morning national and international colleagues, good morning ladies and gentlemen from federal and local politics
We welcome you sincerely to the 23rd German Alternative Practitioner Days.
We are very happy that for the first time this year the DGfH symposium, headed by Dr Krieger and Professor Müller as founding members of this association as well as Frau Dr. Zottmann and Herr Dr. Grein, and the association for Bio energy, headed by our colleagues Pfützner and Zenzinger, are taking place within the scope of our convention.
Alongside our top-class conference programme you can expect to see, as every year, on both days, a comprehensive exhibition from our industry.
Hereby we sincerely welcome all of the participating pharmaceutical companies and their representatives.
We know, however, that we do not live on an island. The working possibilities for naturopathy in our own country and also in some neighbouring European countries are being further restricted from year to year.
In Germany DKV no longer reimburse homeopathic medication, which cannot be taken orally, anymore because homeopathy allegedly traditionally does not envisage the usage of injections, suppositories and creams and furthermore the affectivity has not been scientifically proven.
In Italy bishops believe that naturopathy borders on the occult. Our letter to the Vatican regarding this matter still remains unanswered to this day. We invited the representatives of both of our Christian churches to be here today to discuss this and other important topics but unfortunately they declined.
For example we would have liked to have known how the churches view the fact that the poorest of our population – of which there are 18,000.00 people in Federal Germany- are kept away from naturopathy.
In the Christmas message – which was not so long ago – the parties of the Christian church were called upon to stand up more strongly for the fair allocation of goods.
Just idle talk because it sounds good at Christmas?
Population groups with slim financial budgets are, as a result of costs, being shut out from primary health care with naturopathy remedies. These are, alongside the unemployed, those receiving welfare and students and also families with low incomes. Here the unions have also failed miserably to date. Even they unfortunately did not have any time to discuss this with us today.
Those who qualify for government aid and those who are privately insured are partially still in the happy situation to get a portion from the naturopathy reimbursed. This is no longer possible for those who are statutory insured without them paying themselves.
Prescription only medication is not on prescription because of its especially good effects but because of its risks.
More than 40,000 deaths, over 300,000 hospitalisations as a result of serious side-effects year for year.
How many tragic destinies are hidden behind such simple figures.
Billions are being spent here nonsensically whereas in many cases the people could have been helped in other ways.
Even fewer people can afford naturopathy as the costs of these medicines are increasing drastically.
This is thoroughly understandable if you consider that with marginal production, costs do not sink to the same extent.
In connection with this if you consider the non-harmonisation in the EU within homeopathy then the future of naturopathy is seriously at risk for cost reasons alone. Even in the EU complementary medicine was taken out of the health care division for the mid-term. This means that the EU does not grant complementary medicine appropriate significance.
Therefore we summon the politicians of the Lower House of the German Parliament to deal with the demands of the population immediately: more than 70% of the population want naturopathy-----How does politics deal with the wishes of its sovereigns?
How will a future reimbursement of naturopathy and our service look in the scope of a lump sum per head or national insurance?
We have addressed this topic to the parties again and again; but unfortunately we have to hear that no one knows in which direction the train is heading.
At that, which we have experienced from politics about naturopathy and its political significance, we are lacking seminal statements.
For the sake of the so called „ small folk“ one can, it appears, easily look away. But let us tell you ladies and gentlemen of politics: you should not reckon with it, we are at the end of our tether!
It is high time to counteract this kind of misanthropic politics with protests predominantly on our part but also on the part of the population!
The political handling of our profession in the scope of local anaesthetics and neural therapy along with it lets us fear the worst.
The counties NRW and Baden-Württemberg are not part of this criticism and we would like to take this opportunity to thank them for their support.
The reason for our criticism?
The committee for prescription obligations residing with the BfArM has come to the conclusion that neural therapy no longer belongs in the hands of the alternative practitioner.
The basis for this was the information about 630 incidents, within the administration of local anaesthetic, of which over 36 had lethal consequences.
Regrettable no question about it, a single incident, especially with lethal consequences, is one incident too many.
Who was the cause of these incidents?
Listen and be amazed: not one of these incidents was caused by an alternative practitioner.
For what reason then shall we not carry out injections particularly those which are essential for neural therapy?
The first reason was absurd and showed that the BfArM checks on the alternative practitioner‘s training and exam topics appeared that they do not to have any knowledge of it: It could be read there that our profession did not have the relevant knowledge of the anatomy.
Since 1992, however, anatomy has been fixed as a subject.
This argument also then led to the fact that the matter was supplied to the committee for renewed consultation in the ministry.
The renewed consultation – as expected – drew the same conclusion this time, however, not with the reason of lack of knowledge but this time with the reason of the hazardous ingredients themselves and the possible uncontrollability of complications in conjunction with local anaesthesia.
We asked accordingly about this and how it would be with the medical occupational group who have withdrawn from on-call duty because they are no longer skilled in emergency medicine.
Or how is it in dentistry? According to the rule of the law about odontology a human medicine incision is forbidden.
What is the point of such a law? Where is the consumer protection for the good of the patient?
What’s the point of such a law which forbids those who do not cause the problems and leaves open for those who do, the continued possibility for incidents.
Who or what does one want to hit? Clearly our profession which does not seem to fit into some people’s concept.
We won’t give up without a fight.
We do not want to see our right to practice our profession freely restricted for the sake of other’s mistakes.
As of the 01.04.06 we should now forgo neural therapy which without us would have long since been forgotten. I say: not with us!
We call upon politics to reverse this law.
We demand to be allowed the same rights as midwives and to be able to use necessary medication in certain cases. We are a healing profession which has „care“ written in big letters on its banner.
According to the opinion of the Ministry of Health we are sufficiently capable with the intractaneous injections of Procain and Lidocain but we accept neither this nor further restrictions on our kinds of therapy.
Neural therapy is just the beginning, what will be next? We no longer trust politics!!
